Willow Village Event

  • Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens 145 Alverson Boulevard Everett, WA, 98201 United States (map)

At Evergreen Arboretum & Gardens, something special is taking shape beneath the trees. Artists Maria Bullock and Erin Cox will spend two days crafting three child-sized willow wigwams—woven entirely by hand from flexible, living branches.

Visitors are invited to stop by on July 16 and 17 to watch the process unfold. You’ll see simple willow rods gradually transformed into beautiful, sculptural shelters, shaped through bending, weaving, and careful placement. It’s a rare chance to witness this traditional, nature-based art form in real time, set within the peaceful garden landscape.

By the end of the two days, the finished wigwams will become part of a whimsical “Willow Village,” offering a place for children to explore, imagine, and connect with nature.

Then on Saturday, July 18, families are invited to return for our Summer Fest Family Fun event from 1-4 PM—where you can craft your own willow wands, create fir cone gnomes, and enjoy even more hands-on nature activities inspired by the Willow Village.
