Great Plant Picks (GPP) is an educational program of the Elisabeth C. Miller Botanical Garden that each year recommends a palette of outstanding plants for the maritime Pacific Northwest.These Master Gardeners will explain the GPP selection process and how the home gardener benefits. They will provide 2014 plant recommendations handouts and point out some of the GGP plants in the Master Gardener garden.

Pruning Rhododendrons & Azaleas with Trevor Cameron of Sunnyside Nursery
Saturday, June 21st, Noon to 1PM

Learn some hands on pruning techniques and discuss all things Rhododendron.

Bring color, beauty and interest to the shady microclimates of your garden by selecting the right plants in the right combination groupings.

Designing for Late Summer Color with Marty Civarra, Landscape Designer & Owner of Leaf Lessons

This class will focus on colorful plants that will make a garden stand out in late summer and fall. There will be examples of good plants to use in our area, including both colorful foliage and perennial blooming plants. How and where to incorporate each of these plants into the overall landscape design will also be included.

Rain gardens can be both beautiful and functional. Learn why they are so important, how to design and plant them, how they function and how easy they are to maintain.

Putting your Garden to Bed with John Marsh, Master Gardener
Saturday, October 18th, Noon to 1PM

What should you do this fall in order to get your garden ready for winter? Some of the topics that will be covered are which perennials to cut back, how to mulch the garden beds, and which plants should be dug up. These and many more topics will be covered.

Backyard Holiday Centerpieces with Bob Adrian of Flowers by Adrian
Saturday, November 15th, Noon to 1PM

By using plants from your garden,around your neighborhood or even alongside the road, you can create beautiful,natural holiday centerpieces. Bob Adrian will demonstrate how by assembling a number of different centerpieces in this workshop.

Holiday Workshop for Kids with Hap Wertheimer, Past Arboretum president & art teacher
Saturday, December 6th, Noon to 1PM

Bring your creativity to this drop-in two hour workshop and go home with several gifts for the holidays. Projects are appropriate for children ages 6-10. Parents are welcome to participate.
